South Dakota State University’s Hilton M. Briggs Library welcomes applications for a Research and Instruction Librarian at the Assistant Librarian rank.  The successful candidate is an energetic and collaborative Librarian with a desire to work with SDSU’s students, faculty and staff in assigned subject disciplines, including the School of Design and the School of Communication.  S/He will build relationships with departmental faculty to facilitate information literacy instruction, develop critical thinking skills among students, and enhance the collections in the discipline. The Librarian will provide specialized research assistance and instruction to undergraduates and graduate students, including individual consultations as well as general reference and research support.  The position is a 10-month per year appointment and reports to the Head of Public Services.

 

SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations.

SALARY:  Anticipated salary based on qualifications is $50,000 for 10 months with additional summer appointment possible

SDSU is a land grant institution and is the state's largest institution of higher education with an enrollment of over 12,000 students and offers undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees.  Hilton M. Briggs Library serves all SDSU academic disciplines.  The library staff consists of 30 full-time employees.

 

SDSU is located in Brookings, South Dakota, a community of approximately 23,000 near the east central border of South Dakota on Interstate 29.  The city has an excellent K-12 education system, is accessible to major medical facilities, has an active cultural and social environment, and has numerous lakes and parks within driving distance.
