Adult Librarian (Half-Time)

Under the direction of the Library Manager, Engagement Manager I or the Adult Engagement Supervisor, the Adult Librarian I performs a variety of professional librarian duties including providing information and assistance to members of all ages; planning, scheduling and presenting programs and/or services for adults; performing reference, readers’ advisory services and bibliographic instruction for adults; building relationships with community organizations that serve adults; providing technology instruction to adults; engaging in civic participation.

Governed by a 27-member appointed Library Commission, this large, diverse system of urban, suburban and rural libraries consisting of 14 full service libraries and four community libraries, serves 750,000 Oklahoma County residents. In 2016, MLS welcomed 2.9 million visitors and circulated 5.6 million items. With its vast array of programs, services and events, the Library promotes flexibility and change as it reaches out to the many communities throughout the County. The Friends of the Library raise funds, volunteer, and advocate for the Library and the Library Endowment Trust provides an excellent opportunity for contributions to be invested on a permanent basis.
This position will be assigned to the Almonte Library at 2914 SW 59th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73119. The Almonte Library originally began as a temporary location for the Southern Oaks Library while their building was being renovated. While at that location, the library saw a strong influx of new library customers. As a result of the high library usage in this neighborhood, the new 12,500 square foot Almonte Library was opened in February 2013.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary for this position is: $22.70 hourly. This is a half-time position working 20 hours per week. This position is not exempt from the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. The current need for this position requires availability on weekday afternoons and evenings with some rotating weekends.
