Director, Gunnison County (Colorado) Library District
The Gunnison County Library District seeks a dynamic Director with demonstrated leadership skills and professionalism, relevant library administrative and capital development experience, excellent communication skills, and the vision and talent to take the District to the next level of excellence to better serve the county. The District includes libraries in Gunnison and Crested Butte, and an Adult Education & Family Literacy Program. Gunnison County's population is approximately 15,000 and yet more than 163,000 patrons visited our two libraries in 2016. This historically rich, mountainous county boasts an elevation of 7,700 ft, Western State Colorado University, Monarch Ski Resort and Crested Butte Mountain Resort, an outstanding school system, a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities, a regional airport, a well accredited hospital and a variety of other recreational, professional and family amenities. The Director reports to the Library Board of Trustees (appointed by the Gunnison County Commission) and has oversight responsibility for operating and maintaining the District, to include:
Qualifications include an ALA accredited MLS or MLIS degree, relevant experience as noted above and a demonstrated ability to secure grant funding. Salary range is $70,000 to $80,000 plus benefits depending on qualifications.
